What happens after you report someone

Who reads your report, what the reported person is told, what our team can do about it, and what you will hear back.

  • Android app
  • Murudo Web

A person on Murudo's team reads your report. The member you reported is never told who reported them. Depending on what the team finds, the result can range from no action to content being removed, a suspension or a permanent ban.

Straight after you report

  • From a match's profile you see Reported and a thank-you message.
  • From Report an Issue you see Report Submitted. The app says the safety team will review the report within 24 hours.
  • On Murudo Web you see Report submitted.

A report does not block or unmatch the person. They can still message you if you are matched. If you do not want that, block them after reporting. Do not unmatch: unmatching deletes the chat, while blocking keeps the messages for our team.

Who sees your report

  • Every report is read by a person. Nobody is suspended automatically because of the number of reports against them.
  • The reported member is not told who reported them and is not shown what you wrote. If our team takes action, the reason the member sees is written by the team.
  • If only the two of you know what happened, they may still guess. Blocking them means they cannot contact you on Murudo.

What our team can do

Murudo's Community Guidelines list the possible outcomes: warnings, content removal, a temporary suspension or a permanent ban, depending on how serious the matter is and whether it has happened before. If the team finds that no rule was broken, nothing changes on the other account. The rules are explained in The Murudo rules in plain words.

What you will hear back

  • If your account has an email address, you may get an email with the subject Murudo: Your report has been reviewed. It confirms that the review is finished, sometimes with a short note from support. It is not a record of what was done to the other account.
  • If you signed up with a username and no email, you will not get that email.
  • There is no place in the app to check the status of a report.

If you report the same person again

If you send the same report again with nothing new, you see Already reported. If something new happens, report again and say what is new. It is stored as a new report.

If it carries on

Block the person if you have not already. If they return with a new profile, report that profile and say it is the same person. For anything a report form cannot hold, such as screenshots, open Profile, Inbox, Contact Murudo, or email support@foretellhq.com.

Reports must be honest. See Reporting someone unfairly.
