What photos are allowed
Profile photos must be real, clear photos of you with your face easy to see. What is removed, and how photos are checked.
- Android app
- Murudo Web
Every profile photo must be a real photo of you, with your face clearly visible. Photos of other people, memes, AI pictures and photos with no face in them are removed.
Photos that work
- Your face is easy to see: bright light, facing the camera, close enough to recognise you.
- It is really you, as you look now.
- Your main photo shows only you. Keep photos with friends for later spots, so nobody has to guess which person you are.
For ideas on choosing good photos, see Tips for a profile that gets replies.
Photos that are not allowed
- Photos where your face cannot be seen: too dark, too far away, covered, or taken from behind.
- Photos with no person in them: scenery, pets, cars, food, logos or text.
- Photos of someone else, including famous people.
- Memes and joke images.
- AI-generated pictures.
- Violent, hateful or sexually explicit pictures.
- Videos. Only photos can be added to a profile.
Uploading pictures of other people, memes or AI pictures again after a photo was removed for it will result in your account being banned. See Other people's photos, memes and AI pictures.
How your photos are checked
Each new photo is checked automatically as soon as it uploads.
- If your face is clear, the photo goes on your profile.
- If the photo appears to show someone other than you, it may be removed straight away, and you get a Photo removed: this isn't you message.
- If a face is found but it is not clear, the photo waits for a person at Murudo to look at it. Other members do not see it while it waits.
- If no face is found, the photo is removed and you get a Photo Removed message asking for a bright, front-facing replacement.
Our team can also remove a photo later, for example after another member reports it.
If a photo is removed
- You are told by notification, and by email if your account has one.
- If your profile is left with no usable photo, it is hidden from other people until you add a clear one. The message says Profile paused: add clear face photos.
- If you are verified and our team removes one of your photos, your verified badge is removed too. Add a clear photo of yourself, then get verified again.
If you think a photo was removed by mistake, see Why was my photo removed?.
File types and size
Ordinary photos from your phone work. Murudo makes large photos smaller before uploading them. A photo must be a JPEG, PNG or WEBP file of no more than 5 MB. If an upload fails, see My photos will not upload.
