Selling, promoting or asking for money

Murudo is for dating, not for selling, advertising or asking other members for money. What the rules say and what to do if someone asks you.

  • Android app
  • Murudo Web

Murudo is for meeting someone, not for business. You may not use your profile or your chats to sell things, advertise, or ask other members for money.

What the rules say

  • The Terms inside the app list using Murudo "for commercial purposes or solicitation" among the things you agree not to do.
  • The Community Guidelines do not allow scams, phishing, extortion or financial manipulation.
  • They also do not allow spam, repeated adverts or abuse of outside promotion.

What that means in practice

Do not:

  • advertise a business, a product or a service on your profile or in chat
  • send the same promotional message to many members
  • ask a member for money, airtime, a loan, a gift or an "investment"
  • ask for someone's bank, card or mobile money details
  • use your profile mainly to send people to another site, channel or account

Saying what you do for a living on your profile is fine. Using Murudo to find customers is not.

What happens if you do

Our team can remove the content, suspend the account or ban it, depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before. See My account was suspended or banned.

If someone asks you for money

Do not send it, however good the reason sounds. The Safety Center in the app says it plainly: never share financial information or send money to someone you have not met.

  1. Stop and do not pay.
  2. Report the person and choose the scam reason. It is shown as Spam or scam or Scam or fraud, depending on where you report from. The steps are in Report someone.
  3. Block them if you do not want to hear from them again.

Read Someone asked me for money for what to do next, including if you have already paid, and Spot a romance scam for the warning signs.

Paying Murudo is different

Payments to Murudo are ones you start yourself inside the app or on Murudo Web, such as Murudo Premium, boosts and event tickets. They are never paid to another member. If a person in chat asks you to pay them for Premium, a "verification fee" or a ticket, treat it as a scam and report it.
