Murudo studies combined, anonymous totals, such as how many likes are sent, to understand and improve the app, and it may publish them. These totals never identify any member. No name, photo or message is published.
What Murudo Labs is
Murudo Labs is the research side of Murudo. It studies how people look for a partner, using anonymous totals from the platform, and publishes what it finds on the Murudo blog.
What "anonymous totals" means
A total is a count for a whole group, not a fact about one person. For example: the share of profiles that men liked, or how many matches led to a conversation. Nothing in a total points to you.
The Say Versus Do study
The paper Say Versus Do looked at just over two million like and pass decisions made on Murudo between May and September 2026. It asked whether people who say they want a committed relationship actually favour profiles that say the same.
The paper describes how members' privacy was protected:
- Every number is a group total, worked out inside Murudo's own database.
- No name, photo, bio or message text was read, and no record about one person was taken out.
- No group of fewer than 100 people is reported. Smaller groups were merged or left out.
- Messages were only counted. They were never read.
- Nothing any member saw was changed, and no member was contacted.
Does research read my messages?
No. Research uses totals, such as how many likes or messages were sent. Messages are counted, never read. For when our team can review a conversation for safety reasons, which is separate from research, see Does Murudo read my messages?
Can I be left out?
There is no switch for this in the app, because the totals do not contain anything that identifies a member. If you have a question or a concern about it, email support@foretellhq.com.
