# Update Murudo to the latest version

How updates reach the Google Play app, the app downloaded from murudo.co and Murudo Web, and how to get the newest version of each.

How you update depends on where you got the app. From Google Play, update in Google Play. From murudo.co, download the newest file from [murudo.co](https://murudo.co/) and install it over the one you have. Murudo Web is always up to date.

If your Android app is too old for something new, such as profile songs, Murudo tells you with **A new version of Murudo is ready**, at most once every three days. Tap **Update on Google Play** or **Download update**, or **Later** to carry on.

## The app from Google Play

1. Open **Google Play** and search for **Murudo**.
2. If you see **Update**, tap it. If you see **Open**, you already have the newest version.

With automatic updates on in Google Play, this happens without you doing anything.

## The app downloaded from murudo.co

1. On your phone, open [murudo.co](https://murudo.co/) in your browser.
2. Tap the Android download link. It reads **Download for Android** or **Download the Android app directly**. The file is about 60 MB.
3. When the download finishes, open **murudo-android.apk** and tap **Install** or **Update**. If your phone asks, allow installs from your browser.

The new version installs over the old one. Do not remove the app first. Your account, matches and chats are not affected. For more detail, see [Install the Android app downloaded from murudo.co](https://help.murudo.co/getting-started/install-the-direct-download/).

> [!WARNING]
> Keep the kind of app you already have. The Google Play app and the murudo.co download cannot update each other, so do not install one on top of the other. See [Google Play or the direct download: which one?](https://help.murudo.co/getting-started/google-play-or-direct-download/)

## Small updates that arrive by themselves

Both Android apps also receive small fixes without Google Play or a download. Murudo fetches them when you open it and starts using them the next time it opens. To pick one up straight away, close Murudo fully and open it, wait a few seconds, then close and open it once more.

When one of these is running, a second line appears under the version at the bottom of Settings, for example **Updated 13 Oct 2026**. See [Find your Murudo version](https://help.murudo.co/troubleshooting/find-your-app-version/).

Small updates cannot bring everything. Some changes, such as profile songs and the **App icon** choices, only come with a full new version from Google Play or murudo.co.

## Murudo Web

There is nothing to install. You get the latest version when the page loads. If it looks out of date, close it and open it again, or see [Murudo Web is not loading or looks wrong](https://help.murudo.co/murudo-web/murudo-web-not-loading/).

## Not sure which Android app you have

Open the **Profile** tab, tap **See Plans** (or **Manage** if you already have a plan), choose a pass and tap the button with its price. You can go back without paying.

- A **Purchase with Google Play** button means you have the Google Play app.
- A **Payment method** list with EcoCash, OneMoney, InnBucks and Card & Bank means you have the app from murudo.co.
