# Reinstall Murudo without losing your account

Removing and reinstalling the app does not delete your account. What to check first, how to reinstall, and what to set up again.

Your account is kept by Murudo, not on your phone. Removing the app and installing it again keeps your profile, photos, matches, chats and Premium. You only need to log in again the same way as before.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> Before you remove the app, make sure you can log back in. For a username account you need your password. If you forget it, the recovery contact and recovery phrase you saved are the only way back in. See [Recovery details for username accounts](https://help.murudo.co/account-and-login/username-recovery-details/).

## Before you reinstall

1. Open **Profile**, **Settings**, **Account and security** and read **Email address**, so you know which email is on your account.
2. Make sure you know your password. If you always use **Continue with Google**, make sure you know which Google account it is.
3. If reinstalling is only to get a newer version, you may not need to. See [Update Murudo to the latest version](https://help.murudo.co/troubleshooting/update-murudo/).

## Reinstall

1. Remove Murudo. Press and hold its icon and tap **Uninstall**, or open **App info** and tap **Uninstall**.
2. Install it again from the same place as before:

   - Google Play: [Install Murudo from Google Play](https://help.murudo.co/getting-started/install-from-google-play/).
   - murudo.co: [Install the Android app downloaded from murudo.co](https://help.murudo.co/getting-started/install-the-direct-download/).

3. Open Murudo, tap **Sign in** and log in with the method you signed up with.

It is simplest to stay with the same kind of app. If you want to switch, read [Google Play or the direct download: which one?](https://help.murudo.co/getting-started/google-play-or-direct-download/) first.

## What comes back by itself

- Your profile, photos, prompts and verified badge.
- Your matches and chats. Messages you deleted for yourself stay hidden.
- Your likes, and the people who liked you.
- Murudo Premium and unused boosts. They belong to your account, not your phone. If you pay through Google Play and Premium does not show after you log in, see [Restore a purchase on a new phone](https://help.murudo.co/premium-and-payments/restore-a-purchase/).

## What to set up again

These are kept on the phone only:

- Dark mode, under **Appearance**.
- The app lock.
- Metres or feet for heights.
- A changed app icon. The app has the Murudo icon again.
- Android's permissions for notifications, location, camera and photos. Allow them when Murudo asks.

## Removing the app does not delete your account

Your profile stays visible to other members while the app is off your phone. To hide it for a while, [pause your account](https://help.murudo.co/account-and-login/pause-your-account/). To leave for good, [delete your account](https://help.murudo.co/account-and-login/delete-your-account/) before you remove the app.

## Moving to a new phone

It is the same: install Murudo on the new phone and log in. There is nothing to transfer.
