# Change your first name

You can change the first name on your profile once every 7 days. Where to do it and what a name can contain.

You can change the first name on your profile once every 7 days. Open **Profile**, **Edit Profile**, **Name**, type the new name and tap **Save first name**.

## Change your name in the Android app

1. Open the **Profile** tab and tap **Edit Profile**.
2. Tap **Name**. The **Name & Bio** screen opens.
3. Type your first name in the **First name** box.
4. Tap **Save first name**.

## What a name can be

- Your first name only, up to 30 characters. If you type two names, only the first is kept.
- It needs letters. Emoji and symbols cannot be used in names.
- No phone numbers.
- Use your real first name. Murudo's rules ask for your real identity.

## The 7-day wait

After you change your name, the screen shows **You can change your first name again on** followed by a date, and **Save first name** is switched off until then. The wait cannot be skipped in the app, so check the spelling before you save.

The banner at the top of Edit Profile says the same thing: **First name updates are available every 7 days.**

## Your name is not your username

The first name on your profile is what other members see. A username is what some members log in with, and it cannot be changed. See [Can I change my username or phone number?](https://help.murudo.co/account-and-login/can-i-change-my-username/).

## On Murudo Web

1. Open the **Profile** tab and tap **Edit Profile**, then **About You**.
2. Change **First name**.
3. Tap **Save** at the top.

If you changed your name in the last 7 days, the save is refused with **You can change your first name once every 7 days** and the date you can try again.
