# What happens to my data when I delete my account

Deleting your account removes your profile, photos, matches and messages straight away. What is removed and the limited records that may be kept.

When you delete your account, your profile, photos, matches and messages are removed from Murudo and no member can see them any more. Limited records may be kept where the law, security, safety or payment disputes require it. Deleting happens the moment you confirm and cannot be undone.

## What is removed

- your account and your login
- your profile details, photos and prompts
- your verification selfie, if one is still held, and the face match record made from it
- your matches and your messages, for you and for the people you matched with
- your likes, and the likes other people sent you
- Murudo Premium, any boosts you have not used and any Murudo Wallet balance

You are signed out on every device, and other members can no longer see you.

## What may be kept

The [Privacy Policy](https://murudo.co/privacy/) and the [account deletion page](https://murudo.co/delete-account/) say Murudo may keep limited records where they are needed for:

- legal compliance
- security
- fraud and abuse prevention, and safety investigations
- chargeback handling
- transaction references, the record that a payment was made

These records are limited, and they are not kept for advertising. Where an account has been reported or is part of a safety investigation, the information needed for that investigation is kept.

If our team removed one of your photos as fake, a record of it may be kept for up to 12 months so it can be recognised if it is used again. Apart from that, the Privacy Policy does not state a fixed period for retained records.

## Things that do not delete your data

- **Removing the app from your phone.** Your account and profile stay, and other members can still see you.
- **Logging out.** The same.
- **Pausing your account.** Pausing hides you from new people but keeps everything. See [Pause your account to take a break](https://help.murudo.co/account-and-login/pause-your-account/).

To remove your data you must delete the account. The steps are in [Delete your Murudo account](https://help.murudo.co/account-and-login/delete-your-account/).

## What your matches still have

Your chats disappear for your matches too. Murudo cannot remove anything a person saved outside the app, such as a screenshot or a phone number you gave them.

## Deleting only part of your data

There is no way to delete some of your data and keep the account. You can change or remove most things yourself in **Edit Profile**: photos, bio, prompts and answers. For anything else, email [support@foretellhq.com](mailto:support@foretellhq.com) from the email address on your account.

## If you cannot log in to delete

Email [support@foretellhq.com](mailto:support@foretellhq.com) from the email address on your Murudo account and ask for the account to be deleted.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> There is no waiting period and no undo. If you might come back, read [Coming back after deleting your account](https://help.murudo.co/account-and-login/coming-back-after-deleting/) before you delete.
