# What "Checking your payment" means

Checking your payment means Paynow has not yet told Murudo whether your payment succeeded. Wait, and do not pay again.

**Checking your payment** means Paynow has not yet told Murudo whether your payment succeeded or failed. Murudo keeps asking Paynow by itself. While you see it, do not start another payment.

## What to do

1. If the prompt is still open on your phone and you want to pay, enter your PIN.
2. Wait. You can stay on the screen or close it: Murudo carries on checking, even when the app is closed.
3. Keep the **Reference** shown on the screen. Take a screenshot of it.
4. A little later, open **Profile** to see whether your plan card or your boosts have appeared.

If **Contact Support** appears on the screen, the check is taking longer than usual. Tapping it opens an email to support with your reference filled in.

## How it ends

- **Payment Successful**: the payment was confirmed, and your pass or boosts are active. A receipt with the reference also arrives in your **Inbox**.
- **Payment not confirmed**: Murudo has stopped waiting, and you may start a new payment. This does not always mean the first payment failed. It can still complete later.
- A message such as **The EcoCash request timed out** or **EcoCash declined this payment**: see [My payment is not going through](https://help.murudo.co/premium-and-payments/payment-not-going-through/).
- **Payment Needs Review**: do not pay again. Tap **Contact Support**.

## If the first payment completes later

A payment can be confirmed after Murudo has stopped waiting, for example when the PIN was entered late.

- For a pass, Murudo switches on the pass you paid for.
- If you had already paid again for a pass, you are not given two passes. The extra payment is added to your Murudo Wallet as credit, and the screen says **Added to your wallet**.
- A late payment for boosts is added to your Murudo Wallet as credit instead of boosts.
- Either way, a message titled **Your earlier payment came through** arrives in your **Inbox** saying what happened, with the reference.

Wallet credit can pay for a pass. If you were told money was added to your wallet but you cannot see **Murudo Wallet** on your Profile tab, contact support with the reference. See [Murudo Wallet](https://help.murudo.co/premium-and-payments/murudo-wallet/).

> [!WARNING]
> Paying again while a payment is being checked is the most common way to pay twice. Wait for the screen to change, or for **Payment not confirmed**, before you start a new payment.

## On Murudo Web

The payment box shows **Checking your payment** in the same way, and Murudo keeps checking after you close the box. The reference is not always shown in the box. When **Contact Support** appears, tap it: the reference is filled in to the email for you.

## If nothing changes
