# Set up your profile step by step

After you sign up, Murudo takes you through 21 short steps. Four can be skipped; the rest are needed before your profile goes live.

After you create your account, Murudo takes you through 21 short steps. Most are one tap. You can skip location, school, notifications and your song; every other step is needed before your profile goes live. A line at the top shows where you are, for example **Step 5 of 21**.

Tap **Continue** to go on and **Back** to change an answer. On the first step the button on the left is **Log out**. Murudo saves each step as you go, so if you close the app you carry on from where you stopped.

## The 21 steps

1. **What's your first name?** Your first name only, up to 30 characters. A phone number is optional.
2. **When's your birthday?** You must be at least 18. Your age is shown on your profile.
3. **What's your gender?** Female, Male or Non-binary.
4. **Who do you want to date?** Choose one or more: Women, Men, Non-binary or Everyone.
5. **Where are you based?** Optional. Tap **Use current location**, or **Skip for now**.
6. **What's your relationship style?**
7. **How do you describe your ethnicity?**
8. **Do you have children?**
9. **What are your family plans?**
10. **What are your religious beliefs?**
11. **Do you drink?**
12. **What are you looking for?** Be clear here: it shapes who you are introduced to.
13. **Share a short bio**: a sentence or two.
14. **Add your interests**: choose 3 to 8.
15. **Upload your best photos**: at least 2, up to 6.
16. **How tall are you?** In centimetres, from 120 to 220.
17. **Add your school or institution**: optional. Choose from the list, type it in, or tap **Skip this**.
18. **Choose your prompts**: answer at least 1, up to 3.
19. **Never miss a message from someone great**: optional. Tap **Enable notifications** or **Maybe later**.
20. **Add a song to your profile**: optional. Choose a song and the minute that plays, or tap **Maybe later**. See [Add a song to your profile](https://help.murudo.co/profile/add-a-song/).
21. **Review and launch**: check your details and tap **Finish**.

If your app does not have songs yet, there is no song step and you see 20 steps. Update the app to get it.

## Things to know as you go

- **Visible on profile**: steps 6 to 11 have this tick box. Untick it to keep that answer off your profile. See [Choose which answers show on your profile](https://help.murudo.co/profile/visible-and-hidden-answers/).
- **Prefer not to say**: for children, family plans and drinking, this choice is marked **This will limit who sees your profile**.
- No phone numbers: a phone number in your bio or a prompt is refused. You can share contact details in chat after you match.
- Photos: your first photo is your main one; tap another photo to make it the main. Use bright, real photos where your face is visible. If Murudo cannot clearly see you, you will be asked to replace the photo before your profile is shown. See [What photos are allowed](https://help.murudo.co/profile/photo-rules/).
- Slow connection: you can keep going while photos upload. Murudo keeps trying until they are saved.

## Review and launch

The last step lists everything you entered. If something is missing you will see **Finish these details**: tap **Fix** beside an item to jump to that step. When everything is there, tap **Finish**. Murudo launches your profile and opens the **Daily** tab.

If you signed up with a username, the selfie you took earlier is now reviewed with your photos for the **Verified** badge.

## On Murudo Web

Murudo Web asks the same questions in the same order, without the notifications step, so it shows one step fewer. The buttons are also **Continue**, **Back** and **Finish**.

> Finish within a few days. Murudo sends reminders, and a sign-up that is never finished can be removed.
