# Verify your email address

Enter the 6-digit code Murudo emails you after sign-up to confirm the address is yours. Each code works for 15 minutes.

When you sign up with an email and password, Murudo emails you a 6-digit code. Type it on the **Verify your email** screen to carry on to your profile. Each code works for 15 minutes. If you signed up with Google or with a username, you skip this step.

## Enter the code

1. Open the email from **Murudo Accounts**. The subject starts with the code, for example "123456 is your Murudo verification code".
2. Go back to Murudo. The screen says **Enter the latest 6-digit code for** and shows your email. Type the six digits.
3. Tap **Verify**.

You can leave Murudo to look for the email. The screen is still there when you come back, and it stays until the address is verified.

## Get a new code

Tap **Resend code** next to **Didn't get the code?** After you resend, the link counts down from **Resend in 60s** before you can use it again. Only the newest code works, so use the latest email.

## If the code is refused

- **Invalid or expired code**: check the digits, or resend and use the new code.
- **Too many invalid attempts. Try again later.**: after five wrong codes, Murudo stops accepting codes for that email for 15 minutes. A new code does not shorten the wait.

## If the email address is wrong

Tap **Change email** next to **Wrong email?**, type the right address and tap **Send code**. See [Change or add an email address](https://help.murudo.co/account-and-login/change-your-email/).

## On Murudo Web

The steps are the same. The screen is titled **Check your email**, the field is **Verification Code** and the button is **Verify Email**, with **Resend code** and **Change email** below it.

## Verify later from Settings

If you got into Murudo with a selfie check instead of a code, your email still shows as **Not verified**. To verify it:

1. Open the **Profile** tab and tap **Settings**, then **Account and security**.
2. Tap **Verify email**.
3. Tap **Send code**, type the code from the email under **Code** and tap **Verify email**.

On Murudo Web the same row is under **Settings**, **Account**.
